The Biblical Studies Synopsis Research Project
A Synopsis Study of All 66 Canonical Books of the Holy Bible, 28 Biblical Expository Sermon Outlines, the Prophets of Israel, And, the Synoptic Gospel Problem
By way of introduction, Part One, Book One, will cover the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, by giving a chapter by chapter summation of the each book, along with a topical outline added at the end of each book itself. The remarks are brief and concise, intended to give one a "synopsis" understanding of the each chapter of the entire Bible in a "nutshell." In Book Two, we shall present a "synopsis" introduction to all the 66 books of the Bible in short paragraph form. In Book Three, we will present a summary outline of all the books of the Bible in Topical Outline format; these can be used for sermon notes, and will give you a PANORAMIC understanding of all 66 books of the Holy Bible in sequential order. In Part Two, Book Four, I have developed 28 Biblical Sermon Expositions, written in full detail which includes the following Titles: The Gospel of Salvation, The Work of An Evangelist, The Grace of God, The Cross, Faith, Kingdom Character, Love the Brethren, Entrance into the Kingdom, Increasing the Word, Dead Men Can't Sin, Rich in Christ, Act Like Christ, Husband's Walk in Love, The Holy Spirit, God's Discipline, Redemption, Praise, Sanctification, Fight the Fight of Faith, Chosen by God, knowing Christ, Humility, The Testing of Our Faith, Victory Over Sin, and Christian Responsibility. I have included an Appendix Section that will cover the Prophets of Israel and The Synoptic Gospel Problem. In Appendix One, I have summarized the lectures of Dr. Wood, from his book, The Prophets of Israel. This section will cover a synopsis of Dr. Wood's lectures Chapters One through Twenty-Two. In Module Two, Project One, Part One, we will present an outline of the Prophets Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, and Jonah. In Part Two of Project One, we will present an outline of the Prophets Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi, the last Old Testament Prophet. In Module Two, Project Two, I will give a synoptic summary of the content that was written by Prophets Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, and Jonah, in each of their writings. In Module Two, Project Two, Part Two, we will give a synoptic summary of the content that was written by Prophets Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi, the last Old Testament Prophet. In Appendix Two, we will address the issue of the Synoptic Gospel Problem. Theologians have been trying to figure out why Matthew, Mark and Luke, are so similar, yet, John's Gospel seems to be completely unique and very different in form and content than the other three. The Synoptic Gospel Problem will look at the various possible sources that the Apostles used to develop their books, and which sources, if any, were used either orally as in "Oral Traditions" or extant writings, such as Mark's Gospel, will be examined in this section. The Lectures were by Dr. Stein from his book, The Synoptic Problem: An Introduction. In Module One, Project Two, we will explain what is the nature of the study at hand, and define terms relative to the subject matter of the Synoptic Gospels, Viz., Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Different source hypothesis will also be examined. In Module One, Project Three, we will answer 20 questions raised by Professor Stein, and will summarize my answers to the questions posed. In Module One, Project Four, we will summarize several examples found in the Gospels that a "Synoptic Problem" exists. In Module Two, Project Two, we will summarize TEN lectures by Dr. Scott McKnight out of his text, Interpreting the Synoptic Gospels. Lastly, in Module Three, we will present a short research project/paper on the Synoptic Problem and possible solutions by examining the quest for the Historical Jesus. Issues of Historical Criticism, Form Criticism, and Redaction Criticism, will be examined as there are benefits and dangers of each tool. This is a MUST read for the serious Bible student!
