Using the example of the Saxon jurist Dietrich von Bocksdorf the book examines the legal practice of a jurist and the precise significance of learned jurisprudence in late medieval Germany. It thereby provides new insights into a fundamental change in european history: The emergence of a scientific mode for the administration of justice.
