Paediatric Neurorehabilitation
This open access book presents the state-of-the-art knowledge in multiple important fields of paediatric neurorehabilitation ranging from neurological development over elementary rules in various domains (motor cognitive, language, dysphagia, etc) to applications for typical disorders such as cerebral palsy and to aspects of implementation in specialised settings such as community-based rehabilitation. The growing wealth of technological advances and the growing availability of evidence-based approaches and procedure is becoming more important, especially when dealing with children with neurological conditions. The peculiarity of the child as a moving developing target requires special attention in adapting or specifically developing neurorehabilitation approaches and technologies. This book aims at providing an overarching update on various important aspects of paediatric neurorehabilitation. It will give a critical overview about practice and relevant advances in this field with a special emphasis on opportunities offered by novel technologies but also strategies for low-resources interventions with a special look at focal approaches in low-middle income countries with resource restrictions. The book provides an easily available source of practical information for new as well as experienced neurorehabilitation staff with an interest in paediatrics. It is targeted to all multidisciplinary group of clinicians involved including medics, physical and occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, dysphagia experts, (neuro)psychologist as well as nurses and social workers.
